With the application of AI and IoT technology, Smart Auxiliary Glasses are user-friendly devices designed for people with visual difficulties, making life and work easier anytime and anywhere.
Nowadays, people with visual difficulties often rely on guide dogs, white canes, tactile paving, electronic pedestrian crossing signals, and other assistive facilities for the visually impaired.
Additionally, many individuals with visual impairments wear glasses or sunglasses to protect their eyes. Therefore, we have designed modifications to glasses to include functions that assist them.
Most existing auxiliary equipment is passive, fixed in position, and not universally available. This can be unfriendly to visually impaired individuals who are new to an area. Some older or private locations may lack any auxiliary equipment, making these places dangerous and easy to get lost in. Stairs, slopes, and slippery floors are particularly hazardous, as visually impaired individuals cannot see these obstacles and may fall, resulting in serious injury.
To address these issues, we have designed Smart Auxiliary Glasses to actively assist visually impaired individuals.
Our product utilizes artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) technology. We aim to make life and work easier for visually impaired individuals anytime and anywhere.
We will use the Intel RealSense D435i for depth camera and object recognition functions, and an earphone with a microphone to collect user voice commands and play voice prompts. A notebook will serve as the main controller to run our program.
