SAGES is an innovative AI-driven solution tackling food management challenges for Hong Kong’s senior adults. It integrates a YOLOv8 AI camera with a companion app, enabling real-time food scanning, inventory tracking, and personalized recipe suggestions based on available ingredients, 24 solar-term diets, and taste preferences.
Hong Kong’s aging population drives demand for elderly-focused solutions, with post-COVID-19 trends emphasizing health preservation. However, existing AI fridges like Samsung Bespoke lack senior-specific features, creating a market gap that SAGES addresses.
By combining YOLOv8 AI image recognition with a Raspberry Pi 4B and CSI camera, SAGES supports real-time scanning, inventory management, and personalized 24 solar-term diets tailored to seniors’ wellness culture.
