VTC and Hong Kong Customs Collaborate on Customs Headquarters Building Exhibition Gallery Design Competition

The Vocational Training Council (VTC) and Hong Kong Customs jointly organized the Customs Headquarters Building Exhibition Gallery Design Competition on 21 January 2025. This competition represents a significant initiative following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between VTC and Hong Kong Customs, with the aim of broadening the horizons of young individuals and showcasing their talents.

The competition attracted over 60 Higher Diploma in Interior Design students from the Hong Kong Design Institute, Architecture, Interior & Product Design Department. Participants competed in two rounds for the best design award, thereby demonstrating their creativity. Furthermore, the competition will foster cross disciplinary collaboration, as Higher Diploma in Management for Disciplined Services students from the Business Discipline of Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tuen Mun) will undertake a feasibility study on the champion and runner-up designs.

The competition also featured a distinguished panel of professional judges and invited guests for granting awards, including Dr. ONG Lay Lian, the Principal of the Hong Kong Design Institute and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Lee Wai Lee), Mr. Simon Tang, Assistant Executive Director of Headquarters (Industry Partnership), alongside Mr. Eddie LAI, the Commandant of Hong Kong Customs College, Mr. Patrick CHENG, Senior Staff Officer, Office of Service Administration, the Customs and Excise Department, Miss  Jeremy HUI, the Curator (Museum of History) Leisure and Cultural Services Department, an expert from the Architectural Services Department, and representative from the VTC I&T Co-creation Centre.

In the near future, the Customs Headquarters Building Exhibition Gallery will unveil a fresh new look to the public. VTC remains committed to strengthening its collaboration with Hong Kong Customs, dedicated to contributing to the development and training of talent for both organizations.
