Course Description

GarageBand is an innovative music app tool, for musicians of all levels. Professionals and novices can easily generate one-of-a-kind masterpieces with a complete sound library that includes instruments, presets for guitar and voice, keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, strings and more.

This course helps students experiment with creative techniques in GarageBand, mastering their own music from recording, editing to mixing with high-quality music production.

Intended Learning Outcomes

On completion of the module, students are expected to be able to:

• understand the basic music technology terminology and production workflow;
• distinguish and use MIDI and audio regions;
• master the GarageBand interface and be able to comfortably navigate its features;
• connect real instrument with GarageBand for music production;
• create chord/ harmonic progressions using GarageBand;
• transfer knowledge to create a short music composition.
