The GBA Innovation Exchange and Training Fund for VTC Students 2023/24, generously funded by the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation, has made significant strides in fostering learning opportunities, career exploration, and cultural understanding for VTC students across the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Coordinated and implemented by the Innovation and Technology Co-creation Centre (ITCC), the fund has successfully introduced and promoted its initiatives among students from various academic disciplines.

Programme Highlights

The ITCC has successfully organised eight activities, including:

  • Two study trips focused on innovation and technology.
  • Two exchange tours featuring cultural exploration and industrial visits.
  • Four industry seminars addressing the GBA’s development and career opportunities.

Study trips and exchange tours

Post-activity surveys and feedback from students and lecturers highlighted the activities' significant impact:

  • Increased Awareness: Activities significantly raised participants’ awareness of the GBA, sparking ideas about future development and entrepreneurship.
  • Valuable Insights: Visits to tech companies and historical sites provided deep insights into the region’s technological advancements.
  • Cultural Understanding: Interactions with locals and peers enriched students’ understanding of the GBA.

Participants reported gaining a deeper understanding of their studies, job opportunities, and the latest developments in the GBA. Additionally, participants expressed interest in pursuing employment or starting their own business in the GBA after graduation.

Industry Seminars

Expert speakers at the industry seminars provided valuable insights into industry trends, job market demands, and the skills required for success in the GBA’s innovation ecosystem. These sessions were instrumental in equipping students with the knowledge needed to navigate and thrive in the rapidly evolving job market.

Skill Development

The activities also equipped participants with essential professional skills and industry knowledge to seize opportunities arising from the GBA’s growth and technological advancements. Sessions on Intellectual Property in AI, e-commerce law, and professional etiquette were particularly beneficial. Practical topics such as understanding cultural differences and utilizing WeChat were also emphasized, enhancing the learning experience and relevance to participants’ future careers.
