VTC Innovation & Technology Co-creation Centre (ITCC) successfully organized the Ideation Track of the Innovation Awards AY2024/25 on 7 April 2025. This is an annual scheme designed to acknowledge and encourage student projects that demonstrate innovative ideas with significant potential for advancement in areas of social impacts and commercial solutions.
This year’s theme focused on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), attracting participation from students across 7 disciplines. A total of 65 innovative and creative submissions were received from students of Youth College (YC), Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), Hong Kong Design Institute and Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Lee Wai Lee) (DILWL), Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology (HKIIT) and Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi).
ITCC was honored to invite industry partners as professional judges, including Ms May LEE, Unit-in-charge of Social Innovation & Business Unit of Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG); Mr Alex YAN, Sustainability Officer of Dorsett Hospitality International; Ms Jessie CHAN, Business Development Officer of i2Cool Limited; and the judging panel from 3 operational units of VTC, Ms Vicky CHAU, Chief Community Engagement Manager of Community Engagement Unit (CEU); Mr Joseph KONG, Senior Sustainability Manager of Corporate Environmental and Sustainable Development Office (CESDO) and Mr Joseph SIU, Senior Project Officer of Innovation & Technology Co-creation Centre (ITCC).
Following a rigorous selection process, ten teams advanced to the Final Pitching round. Among them, three outstanding teams were awarded Ideation Awards with HK$3,000 each for their exceptional innovation, while seven teams received Merit Awards with HK$1,000 to further develop and prototype their projects.
To support participants on their journey to the Final Pitching round, ITCC launched a series of training sessions starting in February 2025. These included online briefing session with project supervisors, teachers and students, pitching skills workshops and project consultations on innovation and technology and design thinking, equipping teams with essential skills and knowledge to enhance their chances of success.
